An earthquake measuring 6.4 hits Chile, no damage or danger of tsunami

An earthquake measuring 6.4 degrees today shook buildings in the Chilean capital Santiago and caused panic among citizens, but according to authorities, there is no information about possible damages.

According to the American Geophysical Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake was about 45 kilometers northeast of the city of Talca and southeast of Santiago, and was at a depth of about 90 kilometers.

Initially the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre stated that the intensity of the tremor was 6.1 degrees, but later the center has increased its initial assessment.
Command of the Chilean Navy said that there is no danger of tsunami along the Chilean coast.
